Months and months of studying sometimes end in disappointment, when due to silly mistakes, we do not do serve justice to the examination paper. In order to score maximum marks, it is important to treat the paper correctly. Here are some tips that will help you do so.

  1. Read the instructions carefully.
  2. Read the questions carefully and plan how you will answer the paper.
  3. Always adhere to word limits so that you do not run out of time. Write to the point answers. Answer what is asked, nothing more, nothing less.
  4. Write in points instead of writing in paragraphs – especially in long answers. Every point should have a heading/subheading followed by its explanation.
  5. Underline important points. Use the end revision time to underline all the important points in an answer.
  6. Write neatly. Put a straight line across the statement or the word that you have written wrong.
  7. Draw a line after every answer so that the examiner is sure that the answer is complete.
  8. Draw diagrams wherever necessary. Do not get lazy, wherever you think a diagram is important and the marks allotted to the question are high, draw the diagram.
  9. Avoid grammatical errors and spelling errors.
  10. Use examples wherever necessary. Especially in questions that want you to define a certain term.
  11. Think before you answer. Give a minute to yourself, recall the answer in your head and then start to write.
  12. Adhere to the time limit. If you are stuck in a question, leave it for the time being and come back to it in the end.
  13. Don’t waste time in beautifying the paper.
  14. In mathematics, always underline the end answer.
